TORRINGTON — Elizabeth R. Smith, 87, was reunited with her husband in Heaven on Monday, March 13, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond Smith.
Elizabeth was born on April 16, 1935 in Waterbury, to the late Edward and Irene (Skehan) Rung. Together, Elizabeth and Raymond raised their family in Naugatuck.
Raymond was the love of her life—they truly had a fairytale love. After Raymond’s unexpected passing, Elizabeth moved to Torrington.
Elizabeth was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Waterbury Catholic Women’s Club. She enjoyed shopping, entertaining, listening to classical music, attending concerts at Tanglewood, and traveling, especially with Ray.
Elizabeth had many beloved friends, including Dot, Barbara, Billie, Arlene, Karen, and John. Above all else, Elizabeth loved her family; they meant the world to her.
Elizabeth is survived by her five children, Susan Lee (Dennis), Deborah Poynton (Don), Raymond Smith Jr. (Carol), David Smith (Tracey) and Michelle Bly (Robert); 10 grandchildren, Michael, Kelley, Marc, Raymond III, Amy, Deacon, Nicholas, Taylor, Lauren, and Holly; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother Robert Rung and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Edward Rung and Mary Ann Rung.

A funeral Mass was to be celebrated on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South St., Litchfield, CT 06759. There were no calling hours. Burial was to be private.
