WOLCOTT — Elaine Alice (Mayes) Brennan, 78, beloved wife of Charles Brennan, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at her home in Wolcott.
Elaine was born in Bristol on Oct. 4, 1944, the daughter of the late William and Rachael (Brackett) Mayes.
Besides her husband of 57 years, she is survived by two sons, Russell and his wife Debbie Brennan, and Steven and his wife Nancy Brennan; one daughter, Becky and her husband Randy James; her three sisters, Maureen Gilliam, Sharon Thompson and Estelle Goltz. She was the doting grandmother of Brett Brennan, Jacob and Alex James.
She was predeceased by a son, Scott Brennan.
She was a retired employee of Fahnestock & Co. in Waterbury and had administrative positions at other companies. Elaine was an active member of Prospect United Methodist Church, where she was chairman of the Parish Pastor Replacement Committee; superintendent and a teacher of Sunday School; and on the Bridal Show committee. She was in her full glory the year that her grandson played baby Jesus in the Christmas play.
She and Charles enjoyed travel with church groups and cruises with family and friends. As a member of the Junior Women’s Club in Wolcott, she wrote their opening prayer that is still used today.
Relatives and friends were to call at Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West St., Bristol, on Wednesday, May 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday, May 25, from 9 a.m. until the start of the funeral service that will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forestville Cemetery.

The family asked people to wear some purple for Alzheimer’s awareness in honor of Elaine.
