NAUGATUCK — Mr. Edmund Rutkowski, 91, of Graham Ridge Road, formerly of Gail Drive, Naugatuck, passed away at Middlebury Convalescent Home on Sunday, November 14, 2010. He was the husband of Louise (Helaire) Rutkowski. Mr. Rutkowski was born in Union City on June 2, 1919, a son of the late Stefan and Sabina (Wutkiewicz) Rutkowski. As a young child his family moved back to Poland where he grew up and later served in a division of the English Army during WWII. After the war, he returned to the Unites States and lived the rest of his life in Naugatuck. He retired after many years from the Footwear Division of Uniroyal, Inc. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed gardening.

Besides his wife of 58 years, he leaves his two daughters, Laura Varrone and her husband Mario of Naugatuck and Diane Weldon and one son, Edward Rutkowski of Germany, two grandchildren, John Kolodziej and Briana Varrone, a brother, Henry Rutkowski of Poland; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Alphonse and Tadeusz Rutkowski.

He will be sorrowfully missed by his family and never forgotten. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 18 at 11am at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11am.
