DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — Diane K. (Petereit) Buonauto, 85, of Delray Beach, Fla., formerly of Danbury, entered into the gates of Heaven on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Delray Medical Center in Florida.

Diane was born in Waterbury, Conn., on July 1, 1937, daughter of the late Leo Bernard and Rufine (Stockman) Petereit. Growing up in Naugatuck, Diane was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and later worked in real estate for many years, which was her passion.

Diane had a love for horses, and for many years she was an avid horseback rider, trainer, and competitor. She was also a talented artist who enjoyed oil painting.

Diane enjoyed traveling back and forth from Candlewood Lake in Danbury to Delray Beach, Fla., for well more than 20 years and resided mainly in Delray Beach for the past 10 years. Diane was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.

Diane leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Steven L. Buonauto and Tina Moulthrop of Middlebury; a brother, Robert J. Petereit and his wife Linda of Naugatuck; as well as her five grandchildren, Charles A. Buonauto III of Waterbury, Anthony G. Buonauto of Waterbury, Brianna Moulthrop of Middlebury, and Amber and Autumn Buonauto, both of Woodbury.

She was predeceased by her son, Charles A. Buonauto Jr.; and her former husband Charles A. Buonauto Sr.

All funeral services for Diane were to be private and at the convenience of the family. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, has been entrusted with handling Diane’s funeral arrangements.
