NAUGATUCK — Amandio (Andy) N. Alves Sr., age 72, beloved husband of Conceicao (Teixeira) Alves, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Andy was born in Portugal on Sept. 17, 1950. He was the son of the late Joaquim and Maria do Carmo (Nunes) Alves. He immigrated to the United States in 1966 where he built a life and raised his beloved family in Naugatuck.

Andy was a dedicated, strong, and hard-working man. He worked for many years as a construction laborer for Marlo Associates. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

Family was always Andy’s greatest pride and joy. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His wife, children, and grandchildren meant the world to him.

He loved working in his garden and cooking for his family. He was funny, compassionate, generous, and kind. He was incredibly selfless and always smiling. He suffered in silence while caring for everyone else and putting their needs first.

He will be immensely missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will forever carry on in his children and grandchildren, reminding us to live a life of love, patience, and understanding.

In addition to his beloved wife of 49 years, he leaves his children, Amandio N. Alves Jr. of Naugatuck, Jennifer Jardim of Cheshire, and Sarah Piech and her husband Alex of Frisco, Texas; his six grandchildren, Alexya, Brayden, Emma, Ava, Nash, and Noah; his siblings Isabel Marques and Theresa Lopes of Florida, Jose Alves of Naugatuck, and Helena Alves of Guilford. He also leaves many in-laws, nieces, nephews, other loved ones, and friends.
