WATERBURY — Aurora da Costa Delgado, 95, widow of James Diaz Delgado, died peacefully on Feb. 10, 2020, at Autumn Lake Healthcare.

Aurora was born on March 4, 1924, in Naugatuck, a daughter of the late Americo and Maria Branco da Costa. She retired from the City of Waterbury where she had worked in the Town Clerk’s Office. Aurora was a faithful parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, she was affiliated with the American Red Cross and she was a member of the local UAW Union.

Aurora is survived by her granddaughter and caregiver, Michelle Fontanez; her daughter, Maria Delgado; her son, James L. Delgado; her brother, Americo da Costa Jr.; her grandchildren, Nicole Delgado, Jason Delgado, Heather Friedland, Stanley Tataranowicz, Craig Delgado, Jaime Delgado and Aurora Delgado; her nephew and his wife, Joey and Sharon da Costa; and her niece and her husband, Linda and Bill Cloaninger; and many great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, Aurora was predeceased by her brother, Louis da Costa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St., Waterbury. Everyone attending is kindly asked to please meet at church. Burial will follow in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Calling hour is Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
