NAUGATUCK — Therese A. Roberts, 83, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, in the Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Therese was born in Waterbury on Oct. 7, 1936, the eldest daughter of the late George J. and Alice (Loiselle) Roberts. She lived in Waterbury most of her life, moving to Naugatuck 15 years ago. She was educated in local schools and spent three years in the Sisters of Charity religious order. After leaving the order, she worked for 35 years at St. Mary’s Hospital, retiring in 1996.

Therese loved everybody, but most of all, her church and her God. For many years she attended daily Mass. Her calm, quiet, exterior demeanor was a reflection of her inner spirit. She was a loving sister, aunt and good friend to all. She loved making contributions to various charities, and in her retirement, volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was an excellent pie maker and won many prizes for these at area fairs. Every family member received a phone call from her on their birthday, with her signature “Happy Birthday” song.

Therese is survived by one brother, George F. Roberts (Rosemary), of Waterbury; three sisters, Rosemary Miller (Max), of Higganum, Alice (Ginger) Rowe (Joseph), of Wells, Maine, and The Villages, Fla., and June (Penny) Drago (Joseph), of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Therese is also survived by five nephews, Peter Quesnel (Thomas), Mark Quesnel, Daniel Quesnel (Nina), Paul Roberts (Amy) and Christopher Roberts (Maureen). She also leaves four nieces, Jacquelyn Quesnel-Fisher (Donald), Mary Quesnel, Jennifer Quesnel and Monica Lally (Sean). Other survivors are five grandnieces and four grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Henry Quesnel; her nephew, Maurice Quesnel, and her dear friend, Thomas Bennett.

The family is grateful for the care and concern showed to Therese at Glendale Center, in Naugatuck, and at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019 at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 201 Meadow St., Naugatuck, from 9 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m. will proceed to St. Francis of Assisi Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in Queen of Peace Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.

Memorial contributions in Therese’s memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 1612, Waterbury, CT 06721.
