WATERTOWN — Karen Cindy Huntley, 61, of the Porter Street Group Home in Watertown and formerly of Naugatuck, peacefully entered into the arms of Jesus and Mumma at Yale New Haven Hospital on Nov. 26, 2019, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.

Karen was born Jan. 26, 1958 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel (Cochran) Huntley. She was always loved by her family and was the center of attention wherever she went. She was educated in Naugatuck schools then went on to work at WARC for 46 years. She participated in the Waterbury Special Olympics and the Wolcott Games and received many medals and ribbons. Karen was in many talent shows, dances and special award dinners. She loved life and showed love unconditionally with compassion. Sincere thanks to Dan and the staff at Key Human Services and Felissa, the house mother at the Porter Street Group Home, who were so loving and cared for Karen for 10 years. She will be sadly missed by her housemates and loving nurse, Renee.

Karen is survived by her brother, George Huntley and his wife, Mary;  her guardian and sister, Sheila Ferguson and her husband, Jerry; her brother, Vic Huntley and his wife, Sue; her brother, John Huntley and his wife, Maureen; her sister, Terri Huntley; her sister, Candy Lantieri, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. She was predeceased by a brother and two sisters.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, with Pastor Duane Crossman officiating at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Karen’s memory, family and friends may make donations in Karen’s name to WARC, 1929 East Main St., Waterbury, CT 06705.
