CHESHIRE — Helen (Smegelski) Objinski, widow of John Objinski, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2019 at Cheshire Regional Rehabilitation Center at the age of 102.

She was born in Naugatuck on Aug. 29, 1917, the youngest of nine siblings. She was the last surviving member of her family that included brothers, John, Thomas, Edward and Andrew; and sisters, Rose, Stella, Mary and Frances. Her deceased parents were Hedwig and Stanley Smegelski.

Helen did whatever needed to be done for her family in the formative years. In later years, she enjoyed watching television, especially grand events like inaugurations, royal weddings and funerals.

She is survived by four daughters, Diane, JoAnn (Lexington), Helen and Barbara, with whom she made her home for the past 16 years. Helen was predeceased by her daughter, Linda, who passed away in January. She also leaves three grandchildren, Erin, Judd and Dylan, and three great-grandchildren, Megan, Cate and Colten. There are also many surviving nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 at the convenience of the family. Internment will be in St. James Cemetery. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, is assisting the family with arrangements.
