ROCKY HILL — Israel J. Recio, 75, husband of Florence (Swiderski) Recio, passed away at Hartford Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019.
He was born in Waterbury on June 17, 1944, son of the late Israel S. and Mary (Moniz) Recio. He was raised in Naugatuck and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School. Israel lived in Rocky Hill for more than 25 years, and retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft after 45 years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. His greatest treasure was spending time with his family.
Besides his loving wife Florence of 42 years, Israel is survived by his daughter, Lisa Merolli Pilla and her husband, Jeff, and their sons, Logan and Jeffery Pilla of Waterbury; his sister, Dolores Ruela of Naugatuck, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Merolli, and his sister, Olga Recio.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Family and friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will meet on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Naugatuck.
