NAUGATUCK — John A. Hoyt, 77, husband of the late Christine (Belenchia) Hoyt, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Innovative Care Unit.
He was born on March 24, 1942. John had lived in Naugatuck for the past 13 years and was a former construction worker and volunteer fireman. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus Ojeda Council 33, and St. Vincent Ferrer Church, where he volunteered at countless events and activities.
John is survived by his sister, Helen Butz; his brothers-in-law, Victor Belenchia and his wife, Jessica, and Anthony Belenchia and his wife, Carolyn; his niece and nephew, Lacy and Zachary, and several other relatives.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 at 10 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck, to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
