NAUGATUCK — Mary Constance “Connie” Almeida, 92, formerly of 245 Cherry St., died peacefully on April 12, 2019 at Regal Care at Waterbury.
Connie was born on Dec. 16, 1926 in Bristol, R.I., a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Mederios) Almeida, and was a longtime Naugatuck resident. Connie started working at a young age at U.S. Rubber, and remained there for over 30 years, retiring from Uniroyal, Inc. She then went on to work at Islee’s Screw Machine in Plymouth for 10 years. Connie was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church and she enjoyed knitting and sewing.
Connie is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by her five brothers and her four sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hour is Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
