Helen Wilmot

NAUGATUCK — Helen Wilmot, 88, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Glendale Center in Naugatuck. She was the loving wife of Richard “Dick” Wilmot, whom she was married to for 23 years.

Mrs. Wilmot was born July 9, 1930 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late John and Helen (O’Loughin) McCarthy.

Helen was an auditor for Cigna in both Hartford and San Francisco prior to her retirement. In her free time, Helen was a member of the Naugatuck Valley Audubon Society, Naugatuck Historical Society, Naugatuck Republican Town Committee, and Club 48, her graduation class from Naugatuck High School. She loved to travel with her husband especially to Ireland, and to the yearly Wilmot reunion.

Mrs. Wilmot is survived by her stepson, Nathan, and his wife, Julie, Wilmot of Novi, Mich.; step-grandson, Beckett; step-granddaughter, Tessa; her nieces and nephews, Robert Brennan of Maryland, Steven Brennan of Farmington, Deidra Regan of Massachusetts, Kathleen Lewis of Massachusetts, Daniel Brennan of Middlebury, and Brian Brennan of Maryland; brothers-in-law, Louis Wilmot of Naugatuck, Robert and his wife, Kathy Wilmot, of Ocala, Fla., and David and his wife, Chris Wilmot, of Naugatuck, who also live adjacent to the farm and were very close to Helen and Dick through the years; and her sister-in-law, Cynthia Phipps of Franklin, Mass. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Brennan.

Calling hours for Helen will be held 5 to 7 p.n. on Tuesday April 2, 2019 at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Helen’s funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at the Congregational Church of Naugatuck, 9 Division St., Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
