PROSPECT — Diane L. LaCroix, 70, of Prospect, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Diane was born in Bridgeport on Sept. 25, 1943 the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Morin) LaCroix. She was a 1961 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Fairfield and was retired after working for many years with the City of Waterbury education. She was a communicant of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Prospect. Diane enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and took great care to stay in touch with her high school classmates and attend class reunions. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, puzzles, riding her motorcycle, and was an enthusiastic UConn Huskies fan. She was truly grateful to all who have served our country and was a loyal supporter of Veterans of Foreign War.

Diane is survived by a daughter, Dawn M. Pepitone and her husband Joseph of Wilmington, N.C.; two sons, Anthony J. Micalizzi of Prospect and Michael D. Micalizzi and his wife Paula of Chuuolta, Fla.; a sister, Janice Sylvester and her husband Carl of Sussex, N.J.; a brother, Kenneth LaCroix and his wife Candace of Oxford; two granddaughters, Ryane Pepitone and Erin Micalizzi; a grandson, Kyle Pepitone and four nieces, Corrine, Danielle, Amy, and Carrie. She was predeceased by her former husband Joseph J. Micalizzi. She will also be dearly missed by her faithful companions, Molly her dog and Sadie her cat.

Diane’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury and the VNA HealthCare for the care and support provided to Diane during her final days.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. from Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect to St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mountain Meadow Cemetery in Seymour. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
