NAUGATUCK — Mary E. (Favre) Barker, 94, passed away peacefully at Beacon Brook Health Center. She was the widow of James Barker.

Mrs. Barker was born in Cape Vincent, N.Y., on Nov. 14, 1918, daughter of the late Amos and Alma (Favret) Favre. Mary had lived most of her life in Cape Vincent and Saranac Lake, N.Y. She had worked many years for the Diocese of Ogdensburg as cook and housekeeper. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and hospital volunteer in Saranac Lake, N.Y.

Mary is survived by her son, Frederick Barker of Naugatuck and New York; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Church, Cape Vincent, N.Y. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
