WATERBURY — Christopher Merolli, 46, of Waterbury, passed away after an extended illness on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at Smilow Cancer Center at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Chris was born in Waterbury on July 5, 1967, a son of Carl Merolli and Florence (Swiderski) Recio. He was a longtime Bristol and Waterbury resident and worked for Gagnon Painting in Southington. He loved his family and spending time with his friends. He had an active social life and lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed football, especially rooting for his favorite team, the Giants.
He leaves his mother, Florence, and her husband, Izze Recio of Rocky Hill; his father, Carl, and his wife, Laverne of Southington; his sisters, Lisa Merolli Pilla and her husband Jeff of Waterbury, Carah Merolli and her companion Stanley Pachica of Bristol; his nephews, Logan and Jeffery Pilla, and Mason Pachica; his longtime girlfriend, Marcie Gorman and their son Aiden; his stepson, Michael Devoe.
His memorial service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private in Holy Savior Cemetery, Naugatuck.
