SHELTON — Michael G. Skypack, 81 of Shelton, died peacefully on June 4, 2013 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Derby on Jan. 15, 1932, he was the son of the late Michael and Helen Bodak Skypack.

Mr. Skypack was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was a longtime resident of Beacon Falls and Prospect before moving to Shelton five years ago. Working various jobs throughout his life, he was most proud of being a regional field representative for National Car Rental, the owner and operator of the Dog and Burger Den drive-in of Beacon Falls and a maintenance worker for the elderly housing and Town of Newtown, from which he retired. Mr. Skypack enjoyed being the firehouse cook for the Beacon Hose Company No. 1 for many years.

He is survived by his devoted children, Bambi (Sam) Grestini of West Haven, Cynthia Cauchon of Oxford and Michael (Judy) Skypack of Florida; grandchildren, Rodney J. Vardon III, Mark (Rebecca) Cauchon, David Cauchon and Matthew and Spencer Skypack.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 9 a.m. from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment with military honors will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Saturday morning 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
