THE DALLES, Ore. — Robert (Bob) Stahl, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 3, 2013 at the age of 92. He was born in Turbotville, Pa. on May 1, 1921.

He was the oldest of eight children of Franklin Philip Stahl, and Florence Neta (Dreisbach). Bob served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Margaret (Peg) Mary Curtin, his Irish Rose, on Aug. 16, 1947 in Naugatuck where they made their home and raised four children, three sons and a daughter. Peg preceded him in death in 2009 and he moved to The Dalles, Oregon that same year to be closer to family. He held a masters degree in education and taught math at Naugatuck High School for 35 years until he retired. He was an active member in his community and many organizations, including the NAVA Ski Club in Naugatuck, and the Elks Club where he was the local (Lodge #967) and the state of Connecticut Elk of the Year in 2004. He was a member of the ski patrol until age 75, and an avid golfer well into his 80s. He and his wife, Peg, were very active with local charities supporting victims of domestic violence.

He is survived by his four children, Bruce, Mark, Brian, and Cynthia (Clukey); five siblings, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is being planned in Naugatuck on Aug. 17.
