Obituary: Gene Francis Blanchard

Obit-CandleWATERBURY — Mr. Gene Francis Blanchard, 71, of Waterbury, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the Husband of Patricia Ann (Fosdick) (Longo) Blanchard.

Mr. Blanchard was born in Waterbury on June 13, 1941 a son of the late Walter J. and Beulah H. (Grant) Blanchard. He was retired as a machine operator having worked at numerous companies throughout the Waterbury area. He enjoyed NASCAR, boating, camping and hunting in Vermont.

Besides his wife, Mr. Blanchard is survived by six daughters, Shirley Blanchard, Gina Belanger, Irene Blanchard, Sharon McGuire, Marie Longo and Colleen Verbrugge; five sons, Gene Blanchard, Jr., Walter Blanchard, Anthony Blanchard, Dale Gruzas and Pasquale Longo, Jr.; three sisters, Ann Genereux, Sandra Blanchard, and Susan Lamphier; one brother, Ronald Blanchard; two brother-in-laws, Willard H. Fosdick and Richard A. Fosdick; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter Blanchard and a sister, Rosemary Blanchard.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at noon at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hour will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 11 a.m. to noon.
