Obituary: Robert McKeon

OAKVILLE – Robert L. McKeon, 78, of Westview Drive, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 19, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Mary L. (D’Angelo) McKeon.

Mr. McKeon was born in Shelton, October 2, 1932, son of the late Patrick and Mary (Keating) McKeon. He was a graduate of Wilcox Technical School and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a communicant of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury and a life-member of the Oakville VFW Post #7330. He was a member and had served as vice president of the Crestbrook Retirees Golf League and was an avid Red Sox fan.

He leaves his son, Bobby McKeon of Waterbury; two daughters, Sandra McKeon of Oakville, and Kelly Lafo and her husband, Francis, of Naugatuck; two brothers, James McKeon of New Fairfield and Gerald McKeon of North Carolina; a sister, Sister Patricia of the Sisters of Mercy in Hartford; and two grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Lafo and Ryan Francis Lafo, both of Naugatuck. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald McKeon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 27th, 10:00 a.m., at Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St., Waterbury. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial of ashes with military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Platt Road, Watertown. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown.
