Richard Wilson

NAUGATUCK-Richard A. Wilson, 66, passed away at his home after a long illness on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Diane Wilson.

Richard was born Oct. 24, 1944 in Danbury, son of the late Axel Harry and Mary Frances (Benedict) Wilson. He was a 1962 graduate of Southbury High School. For over 35 years he was employed as a machinist with Sorvall and Dupont in Newtown until retiring in 2002. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed boating, and playing cribbage. He made his home in Naugatuck for over 30 years. He grew up loving motorcycles and working on cars and was a fan of NASCAR and Tony Stewart. He was a true fisherman at heart; he enjoyed boating and lobstering in Long Island Sound. He enjoyed hunting and photography. He grew organic vegetable gardens for years. He liked cooking shows and making a good clam chowder. He enjoyed watching poker tournaments, reading newspapers and reader’s digest. He enjoyed spontaneous long drives, such as to Key West and Canada. He liked to travel to historic sites and read national geographic for those places he couldn’t visit.

Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Kathryn Wilson of West Haven, a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kristie Wilson of New Haven, a brother David Wilson of Rhode Island.

He was predeceased by his brother Harry Wilson and sister Marjorie Simons of Southbury.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte. 69 Prospect. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
