Palma Alegi

NAUGATUCK — Mrs. Palma U. (Urbinati) Alegi, 98, of Albion Street, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Beacon Brook Health Center. She was the widow of Charles P. Alegi, to whom she was married to for 65 years.

Mrs. Alegi was born in Italy on May 8, 1912, a daughter of the late Ceasar and Anna (Franca) Urbinati. She immigrated to the United States at age 9 and lived most of her life in Naugatuck. She retired after many years from the Footwear Division of Uniroyal Inc., and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays.

She leaves a son, John Alegi and his wife, Helene, of Waterbury; a daughter, Carol Alegi of Naugatuck; eight grandchildren, Patricia ‘Pattie’ Alegi of Waterbury, Joanne Phinney of Naugatuck, Maryanne Cool and her husband, Richard, of Naugatuck, John Alegi and his wife, Carol, of Trumbull, Nancy Beauchemin and her husband, Mark, of Schertz, Texas, Barbara Montoni and her husband, Frank, of Naugatuck, Donna Halbert and her husband, James, of Naugatuck, Charles Alegi and his wife, Maria, of Naugatuck; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Charles A. Alegi, and two sisters, Malfalda Rossi and Dora Kazimir.

The family would like to thank the staff at Beacon Brook as well as the hospice team for the excellent care and compassion shown to Palma and her family.

Her funeral will be held 9:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck, to St. Mary Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.
