NAUGATUCK — Mr. Edward F. Sakowich, 89, of 122 Round Hill Road, passed away Thursday November 11, 2010 at Bridgeport Hospital after a brief illness. He was husband of the late Anna Maye (Baka) Sakowich.
Edward was a resident of Naugatuck for more than 50 years and he retired from Farrell Foundry after many years of service. He was a United States Navy Veteran and he served in WW II. He was an avid golfer and he was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
He is survived by four nieces, Leslie and Kimberly Bielecki, Carolyn Warren and Mary Levanti, several grandnieces and two cousins, George Giba and Georgianna Harvis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on November 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet at the church at 9:45AM on Saturday. Entombment with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery, East Main Street, Waterbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norma F. Priem Cancer Institute, C/O Bridgeport Hospital Foundation, 267 Grant Street, Bridgeport, CT 06610-0120.
