SOUTHBURY — Mrs. Anna (Kolodziejczak) Hendzel, 90, of Southbury, formerly of Naugatuck, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury after a long illness.  She was the widow of Henry Hendzel.

Mrs. Hendzel was born in Kalisz, Poland on October 17, 1920, daughter of the late Stefan and Aleksandra (Dabrowin) Kolodziejczak.  She emigrated to the U.S. from Germany in 1951 and settled in Union City where she lived for many years.  She also resided in Vermont for 15 years and in Middlebury for 10 years. She retired after 17 years from Saint Mary’s Hospital where she worked in cafeteria.  She enjoyed cooking for family and friends.

She leaves a son, Henry A. Hendzel and his wife Marion of Killingworth; a daughter, Helen Bioski and her husband Richard of Middlebury; four grandchildren, Mark Hendzel, Bryan Hendzel, Brandon Hendzel, and Karen Simon; a great-granddaughter, Portia Hendzel; and a nephew, Jan Pilat and his wife Irene.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, November 15 at 10am at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck.  Burial will follow in Middlebury Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-6pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home, 990 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488.  To send an on-line condolence, please visit www.naugatuckvalleymemorial.com.
