BEACON FALLS — Woodland Regional High School held its annual Senior Scholarship Night June 12.
Ninety-six scholarships totaling about $60,000 were awarded to 52 seniors during the event.
The Woodland Scholarship Program was established for the first graduating class in 2004, with $26,000 donated by area sponsors. Over the past 11 years, the program has grown significantly through the generosity of local sponsors. Currently there are 55 scholarship sponsors participating in the program.
The program utilizes one “common application,” which all seniors receive through their advisory period. The program includes scholarship opportunities with an academic, financial need and/or athletic focus. The Woodland guidance department oversees the program. Anyone interested in establishing a scholarship for WRHS students can call Rebecca Folta, director of guidance, or Hanna Gregorio, guidance office secretary, at (203) 881-5567.
