PROSPECT — A 68-year-old Manchester woman involved in a head-on collision in Prospect over the weekend died from her injuries suffered in the accident.

Susan Jean Mariano died Monday, two days after the accident.

Mariano was driving a 2017 Acura TLX on Route 68 around 3:47 p.m. on Saturday when it collided head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Stephen Lombardo, 47, of Prospect, state police said. The crash occurred between Dorothy and Laura avenues.

Mariano was taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury on Saturday with serious life-threatening injuries. On Sunday, Saint Mary’s Hospital spokeswoman Fiona Phelan told the Republican-American Mariano had been transferred to another hospital. Lombardo was described as being in stable condition on Sunday.

Mariano formerly lived in Naugatuck and graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1967, according to her obituary. She worked as a project manager at United Healthcare.

The investigation of the accident is ongoing, according to state police.
