PROSPECT – A Waterbury woman was killed when her car veered from the road and struck a tree Monday, state police said.
Troopers said Mildred Smith, 78, of 130 Byam Road, was traveling on Summit Road when her 1998 Chevrolet Malibu drifted from the road and struck a tree.
Smith was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, where she was pronounced dead, state police said.
The accident is still under investigation.
