NAUGATUCK — The intersection of Quinn Street and Chestnut Street is reopened after a crew repaired a broken water pipe.
The water pipe, which ran from the water main to a fire hydrant, broke late Friday morning due to a combination of the severe cold and the age of the pipe, according to Connecticut Water Company spokesman Dan Meaney.
Earlier today it was believed that the water main itself broke.
The pipe was repaired by approximately 2:30 p.m., Meaney said.
Meaney said the company had to shut the water off around noon and turned it back on when the repair work was completed. Approximately 25 customers were affected.
