NAUGATUCK — The United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls will host its 15th annual Community Care Day Saturday.

Participating businesses in Naugatuck and Beacon Falls will contribute a portion of their sales for the day or make a flat donation to the United Way. The participating businesses will be recognized with United Way balloons at the storefronts.

The United Way of Naugatuck & Beacon Falls provides resources to 20 agencies and youth athletic leagues in the community and is in the midst of its annual fundraising campaign.

The Community Care Day originally began to provide a way for the community’s smaller businesses to participate in the fundraising effort at their own level, according to a press release issued by the United Way. With large companies, the United Way can solicit a group of employees through presentations and payroll deductions. This is not possible with smaller merchants, the release stated.

As of Thursday, the following businesses in Naugatuck have confirmed their participation in the event this year: American Pie Restaurant, Avenue Grill Restaurant, Cross Point Convenience, Dunkin Donuts on Meadow Street and New Haven Road, Evette, LLC, Giuseppe’s Italian Pizzeria, Luso Cleaning Service LLC, Mendano’s A Pizza, Metro Mart, LLC, Mountview Plaza Wines & Liquors, Mr. D’s Tavern, Myers & Myers Plumbing & Heating, Paiva’s Liquor, Pete’s Package Store, Quality Sheet Metal, Quiznos on New Haven Road, Rupwani Associates, Sandra Bakery, Santander & Totta, Santos Restaurant, Subway on New Haven Road, The Club, Thurston Energy and White Splash.
