Two local teens, Waterbury man hospitalized after head-on crash

OXFORD — Three people were injured in a head-on crash early Sunday on Oxford Road, police said.

Paul Slekis, 56, of 711 Watertown Ave., Waterbury; Christopher Muggeo, 17, of 87 Feldspar Ave., Beacon Falls; and David Lucisano, 18, of 193 Spring St., Naugatuck, were hospitalized after the 12:54 a.m. accident, police said. Their conditions were not known late Sunday.

Police said a Honda Civic driven by Muggeo was southbound on Oxford Road near Old State Road #1 when it drifted over the yellow line into the northbound lane in front of a Chevrolet Camaro driven by Slekis.

Both cars attempted to swerve out of the way, but they struck each other head on, police said.

Slekis and Muggeo were transported to Waterbury Hospital, and Lucisano a passenger in Muggeo’s car was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital. The accident remains under investigation.
