NAUGATUCK — A tree fell on a house and car at 15 Melbourne Court on Sunday night.
Fire Chief Ken Hanks said the tree fell at about 7 p.m. during a brief rain storm. The tree crushed the roof of a white, four-door sedan and damaged the front porch of the house, he said. There were no injuries.
“The family was home and they heard a large crash,” Hanks said.
In addition to hitting the car and front porch, the tree also ripped the power lines from the house, Hanks said. Power was expected to be restored by Monday.
There was no structural damage to the house, Hanks said, and the family was able to stay there.
Hanks said the tree likely fell over due to the wind.
“It appeared the tree was rotted and it just snapped and fell,” Hanks said.
