NAUGATUCK — A 19-year-old borough man and his passengers are facing multiple charges after police found weapons, drugs and alcohol during a traffic stop Saturday night on Rubber Avenue.

Police said Raymond Williams was driving the car when it was stopped. Hypatia Nadia Areizaga, 19, of Naugatuck, and two 14-year-olds, whose names were not released due to their ages, were also in the car.

Police said Williams was pulled over for failing to obey a traffic signal. Officers noticed there were alcoholic beverages inside the car and all four people inside were under 21 years old.

Police searched the vehicle and found less than a half-ounce of marijuana, paraphernalia, open bottles of beer, throwing knives and a Smith & Wesson 9-mm handgun, which officers determined had recently been stolen from a home in Naugatuck, according to police.

Police said Williams does not have a pistol permit, and a protective order issued against him in a separate case stipulates that he can’t possess firearms.

Williams was arraigned Monday in Waterbury Superior Court and held on $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on May 1.

Police charged Areizaga with serving liquor to a minor, risk of injury to a minor and allowing a minor to be in possession of alcohol. Police released Areizaga on a promise to appear. She was given a court of April 25 to appear in Waterbury Superior Court.

Police charged one juvenile with carrying a dangerous weapon and possession of alcohol by a minor, while the other juvenile was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor. Both are scheduled to appear in juvenile court and released to their parents.
