BEACON FALLS — The entrance to town has a new, spruced up look.

The grassy berm between the off and on ramps for Exit 24 on Route 8 received a landscaped makeover last week. About 25 pieces, including shrubs, grasses and trees, were planted and the area was mulched, said Rick Tessitore from Amity Garden Center in Bethany.

The new look was an initiative by the Economic Development Commission to make the entrance to town more appealing.

Commission Chairman Jeremy Rodorigo said the work, which was done by the garden center, cost $3,000. The money came from the commission’s budget, he said.

Rodorigo added a new “Welcome to Beacon Falls” sign will be put in as well.

With improvements downtown, like the streetscape project, Rodorigo said the commission wants to keep enhancing the town as much as possible. He said the exit is really the entrance to town and the first thing people see when the come to Beacon Falls.

“We want to make a good first impression,” he said.
