PROSPECT — The Prospect Town Council showed that giving doesn’t have a political affiliation.

In a show of unity, all nine members of the council last week donated $50 — for a total of $450 — to the Town of Prospect Fuel Fund.

“The Prospect Town Council has been elected by the taxpayers, and we aim to serve the taxpayers in any way possible. The council is always looking for ideas to help, so this year we felt that a donation to the fuel food is a much-needed investment considering the trying times all of us are enduring,” stated a letter signed by the entire council to Mayor Robert Chatfield.

The fuel fund assists eligible residents with oil or electric costs. To donate, people can make checks payable to Prospect Fuel Fund and mail them to Prospect Fuel Fund, 36 Center St., Prospect, CT 06712.

The council’s unified charitable spirit will continue beyond the holidays. Council members are planning to run a food drive to benefit the Prospect Food Bank on Jan. 16 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at LaBonne’s Market, 75 Waterbury Road.
