ProspectPolicePROSPECT — Thieves targeted a used car dealership on Waterbury Road two times in three nights earlier this month.

Two cars were stolen from Route 69 Auto Sales and Service, 69 Waterbury Road, the evening of Oct. 1 after the thieves smashed a window to get in, according to a report issued by state police at Troop I in Bethany. Police reported a 2004 silver Acura TSX and a 2005 silver Chrysler 300M along with the keys to the cars were stolen. Video surveillance footage showed two black males wearing gloves stole the cars, according to police.

Two nights later the dealership was targeted again. Police reported at about 11:15 p.m. on Oct. 3 three black males entered the dealership after smashing a window in the sales office. Police reported all three men were wearing gloves and two of the suspects had their shirts pulled over their heads.

Video surveillance footage showed the suspects went over to a BMW, the car’s keys were stolen during the Oct. 1 burglary, but the car was blocked in by another car, according to police. Police believe the car being blocked in prevented it from being stolen that night.

According to police, the suspects fled the building when the alarm sounded Oct. 3 and nothing was stolen. The incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information can call Troop I at (203) 393-4200.
