Teens facing charges after car accident

Police-badgeNAUGATUCK — Two teenagers were arrested July 3 after police said they crashed a stolen car on Route 8.  

According to police, Naugatuck officers assisted state troopers with an accident on Route 8 at about 12:14 a.m. July 3. The teens, ages 16 and 14, were seen running from the accident scene, police said, and were located in the area.

Police said the investigation revealed the car the teens were driving was stolen from Naugatuck. Police said it was later discovered the teens were involved in another vehicle being stolen from the same address. The other vehicle was recovered in Waterbury, police said.

The 16-year-old was charged with criminal trover damage to motor vehicle in the second degree, larceny in the third degree and operation of motor vehicle in violation of license classification.

The 14-year-old was charged with conspiracy at larceny in the third degree.

No further details were available as of this post.

Both teens were given a court date of July 23 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court and released to their parents.
