Student charged with assaulting teacher


NAUGATUCK — A Naugatuck High School student has been arrested after being accused of assaulting a teacher.

Police were called to the school at 11 a.m. Feb. 19 for a female juvenile causing a disturbance. The girl allegedly charged at one of the teachers who tried to calm the girl down. When the female teacher intervened, both the girl and the teacher fell to the ground, police said. The teacher suffered a knee injury, police said.

The girl, whose name was not identified because of her age, was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace. She was given a court date of Feb. 27 in Waterbury Juvenile Court and was released to the custody of her mother.
