NAUGATUCK — Three Naugatuck High School students are organizing a talent show to benefit the Naugatuck Ecumenical Food Bank.

The show, Naugy’s Got Talent, is set for Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the high school, 543 Rubber Ave.

Tickets are $2 for seniors and children 5 to 12 years old, $3 for students, and $5 for adults. People can also donate a canned good item to get into the show.

People of all ages are also welcome to participate in the show. There is a $5 fee to participate.

The proceeds and food items will be donated to the food bank.

Naugatuck High seniors Olivia Zembruski and Madison Brink and junior Justes Cureton, who are members of the school’s DECA chapter, organized the show for their Learn and Earn DECA project. The project includes writing a 30-page paper and giving a 15-minute presentation to a panel of judges at the DECA State Career Development Conference in March. If the project places in the top three in its category, the students will move on to the international competition in Atlanta, Ga. in the spring.

“We choose to raise money in a town-wide talent show to bring the town together in a fun, entraining way that showcases Naugatuck’s best all while helping those struggling in our community,” Zembruski said.

Zembruski said the trio chose to help the food bank because it provides a vital service to the community.

“We decided to raise money for the food bank because even after the holidays they need donations in order to help those in need in our local community,” Zembruski said.

Zembruski said the goal is to raise at least $150, collect 100 food items and have at least 75 people attend.

Zembruski encouraged people to sign up to take part in the show. Anyone interested in performing can email curetonj@naugatuck.k12.ct.us for more information.
