NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck police caught a grocery store robber after he stole something from Big Y World Class Market on Bridge Street Wednesday afternoon.
Aaron Cooper, 28, of 8 Dogwood Drive, Danbury, was caught by store security stealing from the supermarket and ran toward the door around 1:30 p.m.; he pushed a security guard before leaving, police said.
Security guards chased Cooper on foot down North Church Street and onto Meadow Street, where police joined the foot chase, according to a police report.
He ran behind the Horgan Academy of Irish Dance building on Meadow Street where police caught up with him, the report states. An officer drew his gun on Cooper, who surrendered without further incident, police said.
Cooper was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny.
