Stand Down to offer assistance to veterans


WALLINGFORD — A two-day veterans Stand Down will be held in Wallingford.

The event offers assistance to veterans, active and retired, and their families. Services available include a medical assessment, dental screening, haircuts, toiletry kits, and legal aid. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will also be served. Any military personnel or veterans are welcome to attend no matter where they live.

A food drive will also be held and the public is welcome to donate nonperishable food items.

The event is sponsored by the U.S. naval Sea Cadet Corps, Edson Division, the Wallingford VFW Post 591, and No Vets Left Behind. The Stand Down is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 17 and Nov. 18 at the Wallingford VFW Post 591, 23 Prince St., Wallingford.
