The meeting was called to discuss the name of the new prekindergarten–to-fifth-grade school in Prospect and the naming process. Last week, the board voted to name the school Chatfield Elementary School. The name was chosen after soliciting suggestions from the public and is in honor Prospect Mayor Robert Chatfield. Following the meeting, a review by the board’s legal counsel found that the board violated some procedures with the process of the selecting the name.
The board was to discuss possibly rescinding the Chatfield Elementary School and developing a new process. The meeting was canceled due to impending inclement weather and has been rescheduled for Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Woodland Regional High School in Beacon Falls.
