Second report of ‘suspicious’ man in Naugatuck

Police-badgeNAUGATUCK — The “suspicious” man who reportedly asked a 13-year-old girl if she “wanted candy” on Friday is suspected of approaching a teenage boy with the same offer that same day, police said.

In the second incident, a male student from Naugatuck High School was approached. Previously that morning, the man had allegedly approached a girl in the area of Millville Avenue and May Avenue, police said.

Both juveniles described the suspect as a possibly heavyset white male between the ages of 35 to 55 with long dark hair, driving a green or blue minivan that might be a Dodge Caravan, according to police.

In a prepared statement Monday, police reminded residents to “be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.”
