NAUGATUCK — Nearly a month after first seeking the public’s help to find a suspect wanted in connection with a stabbing in Naugatuck, the search continues.

Naugatuck police issued another call for help from the public Wednesday for information leading to the arrest of 32-year-old Joseph Gay, of 22 Barnum Court, Naugatuck. Police have a warrant to arrest Gay on charges of assault in the first degree and procuring liquor for a minor stemming from a stabbing on July 30.

Police responded to Rubber Avenue in the area of Church Street shortly before 9 p.m. July 30 and found a 16-year-old borough teen had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and back. According to police, the teen was involved in a dispute with another male that evening. The teen, who has recovered from his wounds, was stabbed on Barnum Court, police said.

Police announced they were searching for Gay Aug. 10, but have yet to find him. Police said Gay has family in Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport. He is believed to be in one of those areas, police said, but has also been sighted in the Waterbury area as well.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Gay.  Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Gay is asked to contact Det. Paul Markette at (203) 729-5221, (203) 720-2584, or pmarkette@naugatuckpd.org. All information will be kept confidential.
