Schools hosting music festival

NAUGATUCK — The 37th annual Borough Music Festival sponsored by the Naugatuck public schools music department is Wednesday.

The festival, which features over 300 Naugatuck students from grades four through 12, begins at 7 p.m. at Naugatuck High School, 543 Rubber Ave. This year’s concert features instrumental students performing selections from a variety of composers and genres.

The guest conductor is Jari Villanueva, the artistic director of the National Association for Civil War Brass Music, Inc. Villanueva, a U.S. Air Force veteran, directs and leads The Federal City Brass band and the 26th North Carolina Regimental Band, which are recreated regimental bands of the Civil War era.
