NAUGATUCK — The Conservation Commission partnered with the Park Department to place receptacles to dispose of used fishing line around Baummer’s Pond, Linden Park and Breen Field.

Improperly discarded monofilament fishing lines, hooks, sinkers and bobbers can cause severe damage to wildlife and create environmental problems, the commission stated in a press release. Monofilament fishing line takes 500 years to decompose, the release stated. The used fishing line and materials will be recycled through line and spool recycling programs.
