HARTFORD — State Rep. Rosa Rebimbas (R-70), ranking member of the legislature’s powerful Judiciary Committee, will be awarded with a 2013 Legislative Award from the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association.

The award will be presented during the CPCA winter meeting on Dec. 12 at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell and hosted by Cromwell Police Chief Anthony Salvatore.

“I’m honored even have been considered for this award from the CT Police Chief’s Association,” Rebimbas said in a press release. “As an advocate and ranking member of the legislature’s Judiciary Committee I am very familiar with the need for strong laws that protect Connecticut residents while also allowing local and state law enforcement agencies the flexibility they need to do their jobs. I’m proud to be part of an elected legislature that is able to pass good legislation that balances those needs. ”

The CPCA Legislative Award is given to legislators that have stood out and supported municipal police issues. Rebimbas was instrumental during the past session in defeating on the House floor a bill that would have prevented municipal police departments from being able to keep a considerable amount of seized property and assets, according to the release. These funds provide police departments an incentive and ability to continue to do the great work that they do.
