PROSPECT — Street sweeping is set to begin in town on Monday.
Mayor Robert Chatfield said three street sweeping crews will take to the streets, weather permitting, at 7 a.m. on Monday to begin cleaning the roads. Each crew will operate two sanders.
Chatfield said the crews are paid by mile of road they clean, rather than by the hour. This means it will not cost the town extra money for the crew to do two passes on a street if a lot of sand has been used on it over the winter.
However, once a street is done, the crews won’t come back, Chatfield said.
“Please take your cars off roads because they will only go into a neighborhood once,” Chatfield said.
Chatfield said each crew can do approximately six miles of road each day. He expects the cleaning to be done in a week if the weather cooperates.
