Prospect police investigating break-ins

PROSPECT — Police are investigating a daytime burglary of a home on Scott Road.

Police reported someone broke into the house at 171 Scott Road on Nov. 22 by forcing the front door open. Once inside, police reported, the suspect or suspects stole a small jewelry box with gold rings inside and a Walther PPK handgun.

No further information was released.

The break-in was the third in as many days.

On Nov. 21, police reported, an officer responded to an alarm at 1st Class Wine and Spirits, 105 Waterbury Road, at 4:32 a.m. The door frame of the front door was pried away from dead bolt and the front door was forced open, police reported.

Almost exactly 24 hours earlier, an officer responded to an alarm at the Shell gas station at 20 Waterbury Road, police reported. The front door of the gas station was pried open as well, police reported.

No further information was released as to whether anything was stolen from the package store or the gas station.
