Scouts from Prospect Troop 258 assisted St. Anthony’s Church on June 23 with the St. John’s Eve bonfire. The Scouts built a fire pit, gathered wood and assisted with the bonfire to honor the St. John’s Eve ceremony. Scouts and leaders from Boy Scout Troop 258 in Prospect joined the Southington Elks Club on June 10 to celebrate Flag Day. The Scouts assisted the Elks with their ritual to show their patriotic support of the flag. President Harry S. Truman, who was a member of the Elks, signed the Flag Day bill into law on Aug. 3, 1949. Prospect Troop 258 hosts a pancake breakfast for the community every year on Father’s Day.
