NEW HAVEN — A Prospect man has been charged with taking a Department of Correction television.

Derek Riddick, 40, of 5 Scott Drive, surrendered to state police at Troop I in Bethany on April 6, state police said. He was arrested on a warrant, charging him with sixth-degree larceny and second-degree false statement. Riddick was released on a written promise to appear to be arraigned April 26 at New Haven Superior Court.

The Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad launched an investigation on March 19 after it received a complaint from the Department of Correction Security Division about an incident at the New Haven Correctional Center, 245 Whalley Ave., state police said. Riddick was found to have a Department of Correction television in his personal vehicle that was parked at the facility’s parking garage, state police said.
